Lahona Tribal Indian Pakistani Textile Embroidery
A Wonderful Antique Indian / Pakistani Lahona Tribal Embroidered Bedspread.
Circa mid 19th century
A very striking antique ethnic fabric, with four panels of embroidered medallions each containing a tiny reflective mirror or roundel. The border and central geometric cross, from a multitude of coloured threads, hand embroidered to great effect.
Photographed here under daylight spectrum lighting and against an ice white backdrop so you are able to get a good indication of tone / colour.
Hard to find complete and as original as this.
All in all a lovely decorative textile panel that would look superb in the right interior.
Dimensions -
Approximately 200 cms x 140 cms.
Condition -
In fair condition, but not without faults. There is a small hole as well as some general age-related fraying to the margins and also some wear and loss to the blue detailing (particularly evident on the central medallion). There is also some discolouration and staining in places, but not really too bad at all for a fabric of this type and age. Some staining is evident on the lining verso but not so evident on the front. All of the tiny reflective panels appear to be there. There is also a join to the base, cream-coloured fabric.
On the whole, more than acceptable for age and an incredibly charming antique textile.
