Large Early 19th Century Regency Convex Mirror Regency Convex Mirror %%alt5%%
A large, traditional early 19th Century, Regency convex mirror, surmounted by a carved eagle. Having a beaded frame and inner ebonised slip.

There was a belief that convex shaped mirrors of this time allowed the butler waiting next door to see all the diners at once allowing him to know when to make an appearance.

A good size, simple mirror with its original glass and gilding. Difficult to portray in the photograph.
