Beautiful late 19th.c. carved and gilded wall mirror c.1890. A superb copy of a George II pier glass. 21 x 28½” mirror plate within an exceptional carved and pierced gilded wooden frame. Deep moulded edge overlaid with wonderful decorative detail of exuberantly scrolling acanthus leaves, unusual overflowing fountain finials and a fine pair of peacocks who face each other across the plate. Some minor damage and old repairs but generally very good condition and retaining the original gilding attractively mellowed with age and worn through in places to reveal the ochre ground below.
