Minton Lismore Pitcher registered 1852
A Minton Parian ware jug/pitcher in the Lismore pattern, this particular version is decorated in a rare colourway, namely green and gold over plain body in the Greek key pattern.
Crisply modelled elegant jug with glazed interior is based on a classical shape with vertical fluting and fret and waved scroll ornaments in green surrounded by gilding. In excellent condition no chips, cracks or restoration. Minor rubbing to the gilding on the rim.
Registration diamond for 5th June 1852 (Minton and Co.).
Height 20.5cm (8inches), Width - 14cm (5inches) Weight - 798gms
The same pattern jug, but with a band of gilt and red Greek key enamel, can be seen in the V&A museum collection :- (item/O334957)
A green example is illustrated in black and white on p110 of The Dictionary of Minton, Atterbury & Batkin, pub. Antique Collectors' Club 1990. Buchanan and Laing Galleries are a private client business. Appointments can be made by arrangement via email.
