Rare Spode egg tray %%alt5%%
Up for sale is this rare museum quality Spode egg tray and 5 cups circa 1820.The item has a white floral embossed pattern set into a sky blue background finished with a good trim. The item has hand painted red 'Spode' and the numbers 2036 (2 egg cups marked 2475).A teapot of this series can be seen at The Potteries Museaum,Stoke On Trent.

The set is in great condition considering it's age and for all 6 pieces to have survived almost 2 centuries is quiet extraordinary. The good gilt is slightly worn in areas which is expected with age and usage. There are 2 black factory production glaze flaw marks in 2 of the egg cups (see photos) also there is a tiny (unnoticeable) crack in the rim of one egg cup which appears to have been professionally restored. Recently a teapot in this design has been observed selling for over £2000 . Very rare and highly collectable piece of early spode!
