Impressive late 19th.c. pier glass or overmantle mirror c.1880. Over six feet tall with an 33″ x 59″ mirror plate within a gilded arch top moulded wooden frame. Topped with an exceptional frieze featuring a large Classical child putti, songbirds, gesso foliage and scrolling acanthus leaves. Flat bottom edge to sit on a piece of antique furniture or fireplace with acanthus scrolls at the corners. Presented as found retaining the original gilding but with obvious wear and missing portions of gilt and gesso.
