True Vienna Regulator Wall Clock - Joseph Wurm vienna regulator wall %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
It is a pleasure to offer a fine true Vienna wall antique clock in lovely original condition and manufactured circa 1860.
Austrian antique clocks such as this are entirely hand made and finished by time served master clockmaker's and should not be confused with the much cheaper mass produced German antique clocks.
This clock wade made by Josef Wurm from Weiner Neustadt which is a city just south of Vienna . The Wurm family produced clocks in Vienna over a long period.
Austrian clocks were only made for the most discerning customers (who could afford them) and took many months to complete individually.
Subsequently they are rare items and I have spent almost 30 years driving all over Europe to source these antique clocks, particularly the finer examples with originality being a paramount requirement.
Unfortunately there are too many people selling modern reproductions to customers.
I offer a full money back guarantee as to the authenticity of my Vienna clocks.I also welcome any expert appraisal whatsoever.
Obviously, any potential clients are very welcome to view the clock prior to purchase (or pay on delivery)to ensure that they are satisfied with their purchase.
As you can see from the photographs this is a particularly nice clock which is in excellent condition and ready to go straight onto the wall. The overall quality is superb
.The weight driven movement is of 8 day duration and has dead beat escapement. It has Grande Sonnierre striking the chimes which strike each of the four quarters on on gong after which the current hour is struck on a separate gong.and there is facility for pull repeat by a cord . There is also facility for strike/silence of the striking .It is of the finest quality and fitted to the case by a wooden seat board.
The case is veneered in well figured walnut which is of excellent colour and laid in a chevron pattern and contrasts with the darker veneered panel on the back board. The original finish is present and it retains a high gloss shine.
The overall condition is excellent being original and well looked after.
There is ,of course, the odd age related mark and minor repair as you would expect on any item of this age but the overall condition is very good indeed.
The lock on the door has been replaced by a hook and eye.
The 7 inch two piece dial is in perfect condition and retains the makers signature which is clearly displayed. The steel hands are original and quite exceptional. The movement is currently working perfectly but will be serviced by a member of the Worshipful Clockmaker's Company prior to sale if the asking price is paid in full.
The sides of the case are glazed and the brass backed bob is excellent.
The original winding crank is present as are the five spoke pulleys.
Hopefully the images will show show interested parties all they need to see.
This clock is much nicer in the flesh and looks very impressive on the wall.Prospective buyers are encouraged to view this clock if at at possible
It is 50 inches in length (from the very bottom finial to the top of the pediment) .The widest part is 15 1/2 inches wide. The maximum depth is 7 inches.
If the buy it now price is paid in full then I will have the movement professionally serviced ,deliver and set up the clock free of charge to the English mainland,Wales and the Scottish lowlands.I will also provide a 12 months guarantee under these circumstances.
if a lesser offer is accepted it will be considered a trade sale with the clock as described and shipping the responsibility of the the buyer.
