Victorian Silver Fob Button Hook, Birmingham, 1890
This is a charming little Victorian Sterling Silver Fob Button Hook to hang from either a watch chain or chateleine. Made entirely of silver, the handle has a spiral ribbed design and a small ring to attach to the chain.
The button hook is made in Birmingham by noted silversmiths Adie & Lovekin Ltd and dates to 1890. Adie & Lovekin was founded in the 1870s and quickly became successful. They produced a very broad range of silverware and remained in business until the late 1920s.
Condition is extremely good with no dings or dents and just the minimum of superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 130 years. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The button hook is 4.8cm long and weighs in at 2.1g of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks are of necessity quite small and a little rubbed but can still be read with a magnifier but they won't photograph very well. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter q for 1890 and the A&L.Ld. makers' mark for Adie & Lovekin Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
