Vintage The Tortoise Cast Iron Wood Burning Stove
A highly attractive example of a vintage, salvaged 'Tortoise Stove'.
Of cast iron construction, the striking octagonal form enclosing a fire-clay-lined cylindrical burn chamber.
The exterior featuring an alternating design of beautifully pierced cast iron panels and vintage incandescent red-glazed tiles this stove looks warm and welcoming even when unlit!
The lovely design continues on the flat top, with eight cast segments featuring flowers and foliage surrounding a central recessed tortoise motif together with the slogan 'Slow But Sure Combustion'.
Fuel feed is via a small hinged drop-flap as shown. Ash removal via the flap at the base, which also slides to the left or right (and so altering the burn rate).
The highly regarded 'Tortoise' stove brand prides itself on their small size but highly efficient burn rate and heat output. It would make a gorgeous addition to a country cottage kitchen or living room, a smart town house, or, perhaps, a caravan or narrow boat.
It has a real charm all of its own and will not fail to generate admiring comments from those who see it......and especially so when your kettle placed atop begins to sing!
As with all vintage / antique heating items, professional installation and safety check by a qualified heating engineer is advised.
UK-wide delivery easily arranged. Email or call for any further information on this item. We give great attention to each and every item we select and offer for sale, priding ourselves on the accuracy of our descriptions and research.
