Victorian Minton Majolica Mallard Game Pie Dish antique majolica tureen %%alt5%%
Charming Victorian majolica game pie dish by Minton formed as a woven basket entwined with oak leaves and topped with a rabbit, mallard and a blackbird. Turquoise ground inside to the bowl and lid. Various impressed marks to the base including Minton factory mark, and date cypher mark for 1862.

It measures 33.5cm (13 1/4") long, 20.5cm (8 1/8") wide and 18cm (7") high.

Condition is excellent with no damage or restoration. It would originally have had a liner but there are very few of these fully complete. The lid is not a flush fit but they very often aren't due to small distortions in the shape during the firing of such large amounts of clay and the covers and bowls being fired separately. It would sit slightly better with the support of a liner in situ.
