Victorian Pair of Grainger & Co Vases, 1870-1889
Victorian Pair of Grainger & Co, Worcester Reticulated Porcelain Ovoid Vases By Alfred Barry.
Stunning pair of Grainger & Co. (which later became Royal Worcester) reticulated vases by Alfred Barry in a cream ground. Decorated with strings of turquoise & coral beads and gilded decoration these really are in superb antique condition with no loss to the beading.
These beautiful ovoid curvilinear vases by the excellent Grainger & Co Worcester designer Alfred Barry, consist of six delicately pierced ivory panels, further detailed with turquoise and coral enamel and gilt decoration. The base carries the Grainger factory marks showing the period of manufacture to be between 1870 and 1889, but there is no date mark.
Both vases are in an excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and there is very little wear to the gilt (only seen around the rim to the top). Previously the 'Property of a Lady' from the royal city of Bath, these vases have obviously been very well cared for over the past 140 years.
16.5cm high / 6.5 inches
Additional dimensions information:
Circumference at widest point is 25cm diameter at mouth of vase is 3.5cm base diameter is 5cm
